Known as the Harbor of Hospitality to locals and visitors alike, Elizabeth City is the economic, cultural and historic hub of the entire Albemarle area. Part of Pasquotank County, Elizabeth City is located in the Northeast corner of North Carolina and is a short drive to the Hampton Roads Virginia metro area or the Outer Banks. With over 12 acres of waterfront parks along with miles of shoreline along the Pasquotank River and Intercoastal Waterway, boating, fishing, swimming and water sports recreational activities are plentiful. 

Founded in 1794, history is easy to locate throughout the downtown area. Residents of Elizabeth City have easy access to higher education through Elizabeth City State University, Mid-Atlantic Christian University and College of the Albemarle and access to to exceptional medical services is provided by Sentara Albemarle Medical Center a regional community hospital known for its commitment to the care of our local residents. 

Elizabeth City is home to Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, the largest and busiest Coast Guard Air Station in the US. Elizabeth City is proud of its connection and commitment to our local coast guardsmen and was declared a “Coast Guard City” in 2015.

Elizabeth City is quickly becoming a tourist destination with many new restaurants, microbreweries, and Air BnB locations.
